If you’ve got an idea and you need some support to take it to the next level, you’ve come to the right place. Awesome Foundation San Jose awards $1,000 grants on a quarterly basis. Deadlines are December 31, March 31, June 30, and September 30. We are disappointed to announce that our Pitch Night, scheduled for May 14th, 2020, has been indefinitely postponed. We appreciate the many interesting applications we've received over the last few months, and we look forward to hosting our first Pitch Night once restrictions of movement in California and Santa Clara County are lifted. What makes an idea “awesome”? We’re most excited about ideas that offer something the community can interact with, participate in, watch, or listen to. We look for ideas that: · Make an impact: Does it help the community? How will it make a difference? · Are local: For us, that means in San Jose · Have staying power: Will it stick around after the grant is gone? · Are low-cost or free for the community. · Have reach: Is there potential to reach a lot of people? How will you spread the word? Other stuff we consider · How much of the project are we funding? If your budget is larger than $1,000, is there a specific element of your project that we could fund? · Are you partnering with other organizations? Or if you’re part of an organization, please include that in your proposal. · Do you have funding elsewhere? · Is this your nonprofit for college admission? And if so, is this a stepping stone to something bigger? Tips for your grant proposal Read the guidelines on this page before submitting. Also: Browse the gallery above to get an idea of what types of projects we fund. In your proposal, we’d like to know: · What is your idea? · Who will benefit? · What do you hope to accomplish? · When is it happening? How many times will it happen? · How will you use this money (be specific and offer a cost breakdown) · Where will your project take place? Do you have a place in mind—or has someplace agreed to host you? If you can, try to be concise in your descriptions. Helpful-to-Haves · Do you have a picture we can use as a header for your grant? · If you have a website or are active on social media, please include that. We like to cross-promote grantees whenever we can. We Don’t Typically Fund Book projects Due to the high volume of book project proposals we receive, we’re not funding book projects at this time. Supplies for personal use We probably won’t fund your request for a camera, but might be interested in funding your rental of a space to exhibit your photos. The difference? The exhibit offers a direct benefit to the community. Projects outside of San Jose We fund projects that directly benefit the San Jose community. If your project will be located elsewhere in the Bay Area (or the world), check out our sister chapters (use the “Chapters” pulldown menu at the top right-hand side of this page). Good luck!
